Reggae was born in Jamaica in the late 1960s — built from ska and rocksteady, slowed down, given the heavy one-drop groove. Bob Marley took it global; Lee "Scratch" Perry, King Tubby and Augustus Pablo built dub in the studio; Burning Spear and Black Uhuru deepened the roots tradition. Dancehall arrived in the '80s with Yellowman and Shabba Ranks, then digital dancehall and modern artists like Chronixx, Koffee and Protoje. PUNKSTAR.ai surfaces the reggae artists keeping the tradition vital.
